How to write a Spanish address
- Spanish addresses give the street, building number, floor and door, e.g. Calle Mayor 12, 3º 2ª (3rd floor, door 2). Floor and door are essential, as apartments rarely have numbers of their own.
- If the building has several entrances or staircases, add the portal or escalera.
- Include the five-digit postcode (28013 Madrid).
- Add the recipient's Spanish phone number (+34) so the courier can call ahead.

Spanish flower traditions
- Mother's Day in Spain is the first Sunday of May, a week earlier than in the US and Ukraine — easy to miss, so plan ahead.
- Sant Jordi (23 April) is Catalonia's own lovers' day: men give women a red rose, and women give men a book. Barcelona is covered in roses.
- Chrysanthemums are taken to cemeteries on All Saints' Day (1 November), so choose roses, hydrangeas, tulips or a seasonal mix for a gift.
- An odd number of stems is for celebrations, and 13 is considered unlucky.
