When is National Flag Day in Ukraine?

Every year on August 23, the day before Independence Day. In 2026 it falls on a Sunday.

What do the flag’s colors mean?

The most common interpretation: blue is the peaceful sky and yellow is the wheat fields. The colors are also linked to the ancient heraldry of Ukrainian lands.

When did the blue and yellow flag become official?

The Verkhovna Rada adopted it as the National Flag of Ukraine on January 28, 1992.

The winter national holiday of unity is Unity Day (January 22).

Another national summer holiday: Constitution Day of Ukraine (28 June).

An autumn national holiday: Day of Dignity and Freedom (21 November).
