How to prepare

Ukrainian tradition: svatannia
In Ukrainian tradition, matchmakers (svaty) visited the bride's parents with bread and embroidered rushnyky. If she agreed, she tied the rushnyky on the matchmakers; a refusal meant being handed a pumpkin. Today many couples revive the custom as a warm family gathering after the proposal.
