A big bouquet is always an event: impossible to miss, and remembered for years. Such bouquets are most often given for birthdays, milestone anniversaries, love confessions and weddings. Here is what types of big bouquets exist, how many flowers they contain, how to present and transport them, how to care for them at home — plus birthday wishes you can write on the card.
A bouquet of 25–35 stems is usually considered big, and the truly impressive ones have 51, 75, 101 or more. With long-stemmed roses, a 101-stem bouquet weighs several kilograms, so it is easier to present it with help or put it straight into a vase. Number symbolism is in how many roses to give, and how such a bouquet is assembled is in how to make a 101-rose bouquet.
When to Give a Big Bouquet
A milestone birthday or anniversary.
A love confession or marriage proposal.
A wedding, anniversary or birth of a child.
A premiere, concert or graduation — congratulating a performer or graduate.
An important apology, when you want to show the scale of your feelings.
For an ordinary birthday of a colleague or acquaintance, a big bouquet can feel excessive — a medium one is better.
How to Present a Big Bouquet
Hold a big bouquet with both hands at the base of the stems and offer to put it in water straight away. If the surprise is outdoors or in a restaurant, arrange a vase with the staff in advance. For very large bouquets (75 stems and more), courier delivery is more convenient — the flowers arrive fresh and undamaged.
Carry the bouquet upright inside the car, not in the boot. Do not leave flowers in a hot car in summer or in the cold in winter. Ask the florist for a water box so the bouquet lasts several hours without a vase.
