Miners Day in Ukraine is celebrated on the last Sunday of August — in 2026 it is 30 August. It unites coal miners, workers of the Kryvbas iron ore mines, mine rescuers, engineers and industry veterans. Today some mines operate close to the front line, and many miners serve in the army. Here are short, formal and warm wishes for colleagues, a miner dad or husband, poems and gift ideas.

Other professional holidays: Energy Workers Day, Builders Day, Railway Workers Day.

Poems for Miners Day

Down where it's dark and deep below,
Where sunlight never finds its way,
You work so that our homes may glow
And keep the cold and dark at bay.

May the cage bring you up every day,
May your lamp keep its steady bright flame,
May your family be close all the way
And your loved ones be waiting the same.

What to give a miner

Miners appreciate practical gifts: a gift basket with delicacies, a good thermos or a tool. Flowers are perfect for ceremonies, award presentations or greeting a miner's wife and mother — they deserve thanks too. Choose classic roses without excessive decor.
