Mondial is a favourite of brides: its creamy white petals with a light green tint look softer and warmer than snow-white varieties. The bloom opens fully, so the bouquet changes and stays beautiful for days. Here is what Mondial looks like, where it comes from and what to pair it with.
Mondial is a large-flowered rose with a tall, high-centred bud. The petals are creamy white, with a greenish tint visible on the outer petals and at the base. As it opens, the bloom becomes full and lush, revealing a pale centre. The stems are strong, so Mondial holds up well in tall vases and long-stemmed bouquets.
Mondial was bred by the German company Kordes (W. Kordes’ Söhne), one of Europe’s oldest family rose-breeding firms. It is grown for cutting in many countries, including Ecuador, so it is available all year. The difference between Ecuadorian and Kenyan roses is explained in Kenyan vs Ecuadorian roses.
Its cream tone makes Mondial versatile: it suits bridal bouquets and buttonholes, anniversary arrangements and flowers for a mother or colleague. It looks lovely with garden-style roses, lisianthus, gypsophila, brunia and eucalyptus. Cream means tenderness and gratitude — more in unusual rose colours. Ready-made bouquets are in white roses.
With proper care the rose lasts 7–10 days. The basics:
