National Guard of Ukraine Day is celebrated every year on 26 March. The holiday was established by a presidential decree in 2015. The National Guard was first created in 1991, reorganised in 2000 and re-established in 2014 on the basis of the Internal Troops. Since the first days of the war, guardsmen have defended the country alongside the Armed Forces while also protecting public order and key facilities. Below are short and formal National Guard Day wishes, words from family and brothers-in-arms, thanks to the defenders, poems and ways to support them. Other professional dates for the year are in our calendar of professional holidays in Ukraine.
Happy National Guard Day! Thank you for your courage. Come home safe and sound.
Happy holiday! Strength, endurance and reliable comrades by your side.
Happy National Guard Day! May every mission end in victory and may loved ones always be waiting at home.
Thank you for standing guard. Happy holiday, guardsmen!
From family: to a son, husband or father
Son, we are proud of you every day and pray for you. Take care of yourself, because everyone is waiting for you at home. Happy National Guard Day!
My love, you are my hero. May your guardian angel never leave your side. I am waiting and I love you!
Dad, thank you for your strength and example. Come home soon; we miss you so much.
For brothers- and sisters-in-arms
Brothers-in-arms, happy holiday! Thank you for always having my back. We hold together, and Ukraine will prevail.
Sisters-in-arms, you prove that strength and tenderness can go hand in hand. Happy holiday, and take care!
Formal wishes
Dear servicemembers of the National Guard of Ukraine, please accept our sincere congratulations on your professional holiday. Your courage, discipline and loyalty to your oath protect the country's independence and people's peace of mind.
We wish you good health, strength of spirit, success in your missions and a swift victory and peace.
Words of thanks
Thank you for every morning we wake up at home. Your service is the highest price of our freedom, and we remember it every day.
We bow to those on the front line today and honour the memory of the fallen guardsmen.
How to support defenders on this day
Write personally — a short message to a soldier you know means more than a social media post.
Donate to a unit — fundraisers by brigades and trusted foundations help those serving now.
Send a parcel — treats, warm clothes, letters and children's drawings bring joy at the front.
Support the families — flowers and attention for defenders' mothers, wives and children matter too.
Remember the fallen — a moment of silence and words of gratitude for those who gave their lives for Ukraine.
What to write on a card with flowers
Happy birthday! May this bouquet remind you how many people love you.
For the best moments of the year — flowers, sincere words and hugs.
May every day be as bright as this bouquet.
Happy birthday! Wishing you health, peace and joy in the little things.
Sign the card by hand: even two lines in your handwriting mean more than a long printed message.
National Guard Day poems
You are our shield, our steady wall, The guard of law and peaceful days; May harm pass by you, one and all, And bring you home by safest ways.
For courage, strength and service true We bow our heads in thanks today; May God watch over all of you And may peace come without delay!
How to support a guardsman on the day
What matters most to a soldier is attention from loved ones and real help: a donation to their unit, warm clothes, a first-aid kit or a power bank. Flowers are a fitting gift for those on leave, for veterans and for defenders' families; a blue-and-yellow arrangement makes a fine symbol of gratitude.
In 2014, on the basis of the Interior Ministry's Internal Troops. It was first created in 1991.
In summer, on the first Sunday of August, we greet the sky defenders: here are Air Force Day wishes.
