Olena’s (Helen’s) name day under the new church calendar of the OCU and UGCC is celebrated on 21 May; under the old style it is 3 June. The day honours Saints Constantine and Helen, Equal-to-the-Apostles, so Olenas and Kostiantyns celebrate their name day together. Below are short name day wishes for Olena, wishes in your own words, messages for a friend, mom, sister or colleague, and poems.
More name day collections: name day wishes, Iryna’s name day and Nataliia’s name day.
The name Olena is often associated with light and the sun. Think about how she brightens your life and wish her what she dreams of. For example: “Olena, happy name day! Everything is brighter around you — thank you for your kindness and support. May Saint Helen protect you and may every new day give you a reason to smile.”
Happy name day, Lena dear!
May May’s warm sun be always near,
May happiness and love so true
Bloom in every day for you!
Olena — light, Olena — sun,
A home of warmth for everyone!
May joy come knocking at your door
And stay with you forevermore!
Saint Helen was the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. According to tradition, in the 4th century she found the True Cross in Jerusalem, while Constantine legalised Christianity in the Roman Empire. For this, both are called Equal-to-the-Apostles.
A May name day is a great reason to give a lush flower basket or a tender bouquet. A basket is especially fitting for a mom or a colleague.
