Gift ideas for a new baby girl

The most practical gifts are things needed in the first months: a set of bodysuits, a blanket, pretty swaddles, a baby-store voucher or a newborn photo shoot. Can I bring flowers to the maternity ward?

Many maternity wards do not allow flowers in the rooms because of allergens and hygiene rules. It is better to give a bouquet at discharge or at home.

Which flowers suit a new mum?

Soft roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus or baby’s breath without a strong scent. Avoid lilies and flowers that shed pollen.

When should I send my congratulations?

In the first days, a short message that does not need a reply. Save the longer wishes and the gift for the discharge or your first visit to the baby.
