About the feast

Saint Catherine of Alexandria lived in Egypt in the late 3rd and early 4th centuries. She was an educated daughter of a noble family and died a martyr for her faith. In Ukraine she was considered the patroness of young women: on the eve of her feast, girls told fortunes about their future husbands.
