The Last Bell is a moving school celebration at the end of the school year. For graduates it is a farewell to school, for teachers it is seeing off another class, and for parents a proud moment. Here are Last Bell wishes: for graduates from teachers and parents, for teachers from students and parents, from the class teacher, short ones, verses and flower ideas. Wishes for other holidays of the year are in our holiday wishes calendar.

Wishes for graduates

  • Dear graduates, happy Last Bell! Today an important chapter of your life comes to an end. May the knowledge, friendships and memories from school support you on your new path. Dream boldly and don’t be afraid of mistakes!
  • Congratulations on your Last Bell! Exams, career choices and adult life lie ahead. May you have strength, persistence and self-belief, and may school always remain a place of warm memories.
  • Happy Last Bell, graduates! May each of you find work you love, and may the friendships that began here last for years.

Wishes for teachers from students and parents

  • Dear teachers, thank you for your knowledge, patience and faith in us! You taught us not only subjects but life itself. We wish you health, inspiration and grateful students in every class to come.
  • Dear (name), heartfelt thanks from all the parents for these years. You have been a second mother to our children. May your work always be respected and your holidays well-earned and long.

Wishes from the class teacher

  • My dears, today I am letting you go into adult life. You have grown into smart, kind and brave people, and I am proud of each of you. Come back to visit — my classroom door is always open to you.

Wishes for graduates from parents

  • Kids, happy Last Bell! It feels like only yesterday we walked you to first grade, and today we are seeing you off into adult life. We are proud of you and will always be by your side.

Short Last Bell wishes

  • Happy Last Bell! Bold dreams and confident steps.
  • Congratulations! May the grown-up world welcome you kindly.
  • Thank you, school, for everything! Good luck, graduates!

How to give a Last Bell speech

  • A speech at the assembly should be short — one or two minutes. Wish graduates courage and self-belief; thank teachers specifically — for patience, support, special lessons. Flowers for teachers are traditionally given on behalf of the class or the parents’ committee.

Last Bell verses

The final bell has rung today,
It’s time to bid our school goodbye;
May fortune guide you on your way
And all your dreams soar way up high!

Dear teachers, thank you for each lesson,
For patience, care and helping hands;
May life reward you with its blessing
And joy in all your future plans!

Which flowers to give for the Last Bell

Teachers traditionally receive bouquets from the class: white or soft roses, peonies, hydrangeas — late May is the season of lush flowers. A boxed bouquet is handy if the teacher receives many flowers, as it needs no vase. Small posies or corsages suit graduates.
