Teachers' Day is a chance to tell a teacher what usually goes unsaid during the school year. Below are Teachers' Day wishes from students and parents, for a homeroom teacher, a kindergarten teacher, colleagues and the principal, plus short card messages, heartfelt words and a few short poems. When is Teachers' Day in Ukraine

In Ukraine, Education Workers' Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of October. In 2026 it falls on October 4. Since it is a weekend, students usually congratulate teachers on Friday or Monday. There is also October 5, World Teachers' Day, established by UNESCO.

The holiday covers all educators: school teachers, kindergarten teachers, college and university lecturers, club coaches, school librarians and psychologists.

Teachers' Day wishes from students

  • Happy Teachers' Day! We wish you students who listen, colleagues who support you, and evenings free of marking.
  • You can explain the hardest things so they make sense and make boring topics exciting. Thank you, and happy holiday!

  • We wish you good health, calm nerves and a salary worthy of your work. You are the best teacher!
  • Your lessons are the ones we look forward to. Thank you for the knowledge, the humour and the kindness.
  • Happy professional holiday! May your inspiration never run out and every new class bring only pleasant surprises.

  • Happy holiday, colleagues! May we have fewer reports and more time for the reasons we came into teaching.

Short messages for a card

When your wishes come with a bouquet, one or two sentences are enough. These fit easily on a small card.

  • Thank you for the knowledge and warmth! Happy Teachers' Day!
  • The best flowers for the best teacher!
  • Happy Teachers' Day! You inspire us.
  • Thank you for your patience and for believing in us!
  • Happy holiday! May every lesson be a joy.
  • To a truly great teacher, with love from your class.
  • So glad to have you! Happy professional holiday!
  • Congratulations! Inspiration, health and grateful students.
  • You taught us the most important thing: how to learn. Thank you!
  • Happy Teachers' Day! With respect from (class).

Heartfelt wishes and how to write your own

  • Years will pass and we will forget the formulas and dates, but we will remember how you believed in us. Thank you for that.
  • You were there when things were hardest for me, and you may never know how much that meant. Happy Teachers' Day!
  • Each of us will carry a piece of your kindness into adult life. Thank you for being exactly the teacher you are.
  • Sometimes one "you can do it" from you meant more than all the grades. Thank you, and happy holiday!

To make a personal message sound sincere, follow a simple structure:

  • Greeting: use the name your school normally uses.
  • A specific memory: a lesson, a trip, a phrase the teacher said.
  • What it changed: "now I love reading", "I went on to study chemistry".
  • One wish: personal, not a list of "health, happiness, success".
  • Signature: your name or your class.

Short Teachers' Day poems

Short verses you can write on a card or read out at a school event.

You opened up a world of books,
You taught us how to dream and grow.
So here are flowers, warmth and thanks
For everything you helped us know.

May October bring you light,
May every lesson go just right,
May every class be kind and true,
And every day be good to you.

For patience, wisdom, gentle care,
For always being really there,
We bring these flowers, small but bright,
To say thank you: you got it right.

What flowers to give a teacher

Flowers are the traditional Teachers' Day gift. To make the bouquet last and keep it practical on a busy desk, choose compact arrangements: in a box, in a basket or a small bouquet in kraft paper. Spray roses, chrysanthemums, alstroemerias and gypsophila last the longest. For more on choosing, see first day of school flowers.

  • From the whole class: a larger bouquet or a basket arrangement signed by all students.
  • From one student: a small bouquet or a few stems in kraft paper.
  • For a kindergarten teacher: a bright box arrangement that fits on a shelf.
  • For a colleague or principal: understated classics such as roses, hydrangea or eustoma.
