The name Xenia means “hospitable” in Greek, so wish her a home always full of dear guests and joy. For example: “Oksanka, happy name day! Your home is always warm, tasty and fun — no wonder your name means hospitality. May Saint Xenia protect you and may only good news knock at your door.”
Happy name day, Oksana dear!
May winter bring you warmth and cheer,
May happiness and love so true
Wrap around and care for you!
Oksana, a name as soft as song,
May life be bright the whole year long,
May joy fall gently like the snow
And spring inside your heart still glow!
Saint Xenia lived in the 5th century. According to tradition, she was the daughter of a noble Roman but left her wealth behind and founded a convent. In Ukraine the name Kseniia long ago became Oksana — one of the most common and beloved female names.
In winter it is especially lovely to receive fresh flowers — tender spray roses or an orchid that will bloom for months.
