Flower destinations in Taiwan
- Orchids in Tainan. The annual Taiwan International Orchid Show is held at a large orchid plantation near Tainan, displaying thousands of Phalaenopsis varieties from miniature to giant.
- Yangmingshan calla lilies. In the national park near Taipei, the Zhuzihu area fills with white calla lilies in spring, and visitors can cut their own.
- Alishan cherry blossom. In spring this mountain resort with its forest railway is one of the most popular places to view cherry blossom.
- Hualien daylilies. In late summer the mountainsides of eastern Taiwan turn bright orange with flowering daylilies.
Flowers in Taipei
- Jianguo Holiday Flower Market. At weekends a large flower and plant market sets up under an overpass in central Taipei.
- Expo Park. A legacy of the 2010–2011 international flora exposition, with pavilions, glasshouses and seasonal beds.
- Plum blossom. The flowering plum (meihua) is one of the island’s symbols and blooms in winter.
