The bouquet is chosen, the address is in, and the "card message" field is still empty. Sound familiar? The card matters more than it seems: flowers fade within a week, but the card often stays on the fridge or between the pages of a book. It is the only part of the order that speaks in your voice.
Below are 60 short messages for the six most common occasions. Each fits a standard gift card, and each is easy to make your own: add a name, a shared memory or one detail only you know.
How to write a message that fits the card
- Length. Two to four lines, roughly up to 200 characters. It reads at a glance and needs no tiny handwriting.
- Use their name. "Helen" sounds warmer than "dear birthday girl".
- One personal detail. An inside joke, a favourite place, an old promise turns a template into your message.
- Signature. Your name, "yours…" or a riddle-like hint if the surprise is anonymous.
- Proofread. Read it aloud and double-check the recipient's name: cards get reread.
Want to keep it a mystery? Simply leave it unsigned: when calling the recipient, the UFL courier does not reveal the sender or what is in the bouquet, only what is needed to deliver it.

Before sending flowers to a hospital, check whether the ward accepts them: some do not. In that case, deliver the bouquet home for their return. Ready arrangements are in our get well flowers collection, and longer wishes are in get well wishes.
How to sign the card
- Close people: just your name or "yours".
- Colleagues and partners: first and last name, and your position if needed.
- From a company: the company name and the name of a contact person.
- Anonymously: a riddle-like hint, such as "From the one who remembers your favourite song".
- From abroad: add your city, for example "Hugs from Warsaw, see you soon".
What not to write
- Long poems from the internet: people recognise them from the first line.
- Jokes only the two of you understand, if the bouquet goes to an office: reception may read the card.
- Any mention of the price.
- Anything too personal for a workplace delivery.
- Health advice for someone who is ill: simple support works better.
The main rule is simple: the card should sound as if you said it out loud. If you are planning a bigger surprise, see our ideas in how to celebrate Women's Day.
