Choose the shape to suit the wedding style and venue: curved and asymmetric arches work almost anywhere, round and hexagonal ones suit modern, minimalist weddings, and triangular ones suit boho and rustic styles. Frames are usually metal or wood and can be hired from decorators.
Which flowers to choose
- Roses and spray roses — the base of most arches; they hold well in floral foam.
- Hydrangea — lots of volume, but it wilts quickly in heat; place it in water tubes.
- Greenery — eucalyptus, ruscus, asparagus fern, ivy: builds the shape and costs less than flowers.
- Airy accents — gypsophila, statice, delphinium.
- Dried flowers and pampas grass — for boho; they do not wilt or mind heat.

Installation and stability
- Timing. The arch is assembled 2–3 hours before the ceremony so the flowers stay fresh.
- Water. Flowers go into floral foam or water tubes; in heat the foam is topped up.
- Wind. Outdoors, weigh down the frame or stake it into the ground, especially on beaches and in fields.
- Sun. Position the arch so the sun is not in the eyes of guests or the photographer; at midday, partial shade is best.
How to save money
- An asymmetric arrangement in one or two corners instead of full coverage.
- More greenery and seasonal flowers, fewer imported ones.
- Hire the frame and fabric instead of buying.
- Boho-style dried flowers and fabric cost less than large volumes of fresh flowers.
What to do with the arch afterwards
The arch can be moved indoors as a backdrop for the head table or a photo spot, and its flowers reused for table decor. Agree this with your decorator in advance so the move is quick.
