International Chefs Day is celebrated every year on 20 October. It was founded in 2004 by the World Association of Chefs' Societies (Worldchefs) on the initiative of chef Bill Gallagher. On this day we greet cooks, head chefs, pastry chefs, bakers, sous-chefs and everyone who cooks for others, in restaurants, cafés, school canteens and at home. Below are short Chefs Day wishes, messages for a head chef and colleagues, words for Mum and Grandma, funny lines, poems and gift ideas.

Chefs Day poems
You turn plain food to works of art,
Your stove is like a painter's stand;
May joy and flavour fill your heart
And every dish come out as planned!
May nothing ever burn or stick,
May guests ask for a second plate,
May every service run so quick
And every evening turn out great!
Gift ideas for a chef
Chefs love professional extras: a good knife, a sharpener, an apron, a spice set or a cookbook. For a kitchen celebration, a bright bouquet or a fruit basket delights the whole team. And the best gift for a home cook is a dinner made for them.
