International Jazz Day is celebrated every year on 30 April. UNESCO proclaimed it in November 2011 at the initiative of pianist Herbie Hancock, a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and it was first celebrated on 30 April 2012. On this day concerts, jam sessions and talks on jazz history take place all over the world, celebrating the music of freedom, improvisation and dialogue. Below you will find short Jazz Day wishes, messages for musicians and music lovers, poems and flower ideas for a concert. Wishes for other holidays of the year are in our holiday wishes calendar.

Greeting loved ones from afar
A video call — agree on a good time so the whole family can talk without rushing.
A voice message — a real voice feels warmer than text, especially for grandparents.
Flower delivery — a bouquet with a card delivered on the holiday morning makes a lovely surprise.
A family video — collect short wishes from all your relatives and send them as one clip.
Jazz Day poems
A saxophone sings in the evening haze, The double bass picks up the beat. May swing and light fill all your days And make your every moment sweet.
Happy Jazz Day! May your life Play freely like a melody, With golden notes and little strife And moments full of harmony.
Which flowers to give at a jazz concert
Jazz is the music of evenings and charm, so deep colours suit it best: burgundy roses, dark greenery and chrysanthemum accents. A restrained bouquet without extra decoration suits a male musician, while a singer will love a luxurious arrangement with roses. Present the flowers after the show, when the musicians take their bow.
