International Dance Day is celebrated every year on 29 April. It was established in 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, and the date marks the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, the French choreographer regarded as the creator of modern ballet. On this day we greet ballet dancers, choreographers, dance teachers, folk ensemble performers and everyone who lives by rhythm. Below are short Dance Day wishes, messages for choreographers and students, words from the audience, poems and gift ideas.
Happy International Dance Day! Lightness, inspiration and applause.
Happy holiday! May every move bring you joy and the music never stop.
Happy 29 April! May life be like a dance: beautiful and in step.
Thank you for the beauty your dancing brings to the world. Happy holiday!
For a choreographer or teacher
Dear choreographer, thank you for your patience, high standards and faith in each of us. You taught us not only to dance but never to give up.
May your students win competitions and your productions fill every hall!
For dancers and students
Studio friends, happy holiday! May your stretch improve and injuries pass you by.
To the little dancers: joy in every class and big stages ahead!
Formal wishes
Dear dance artists, please accept our sincere congratulations on International Dance Day. Your art preserves Ukrainian traditions, brings beauty to people and inspires new generations.
We wish you inspiration, brilliant productions, grateful audiences and peace.
Funny wishes
May you always be in step with life, and may your toes only get stepped on while dancing!
May your troubles waltz far away while you twirl only on the dance floor. Happy Dance Day!
Dance Day poems
Dance is a language without words, Where hearts speak through every move; May you fly freely like the birds And always find your rhythm and groove!
Let music play and let the hall spin round, Let thunderous applause fill the air; May inspiration always be found And joy be with you everywhere!
Gift ideas for a dancer
Dancers appreciate gifts for training and recovery: comfortable clothes, a shoe bag, a massage roller, a massage voucher. After a concert or competition, flowers are traditional: gentle bouquets for girls and restrained arrangements for boys. A bouquet from the whole group is a lovely gift for the choreographer.
