All-Ukrainian Library Day is celebrated every year on 30 September. The date was chosen because under the Julian calendar it was the feast of Saints Faith, Hope, Love and their mother Sophia, a symbol of wisdom. It is the day of librarians, archivists and everyone who preserves knowledge. A modern library is not just books but also a co-working space, courses and clubs, and in wartime a place to warm up and charge a phone. Below are Library Day wishes for librarians, colleagues and readers, plus poems and flower ideas. Other professional dates for the year are in our calendar of professional holidays in Ukraine.
Happy Library Day! Grateful readers, new arrivals and coziness among the shelves.
May your libraries always be warm, bright and full of people who love to read. Happy holiday!
Happy professional holiday! Wisdom, inspiration and exciting book discoveries.
Thank you for preserving knowledge and opening the world of books to everyone. Happy Library Day!
For a librarian from readers
Thank you for always finding exactly the right book and exactly the right words of support.
Our librarian is the best guide to the world of books. May your work bring you joy and recognition!
We wish you readers who return books on time and new titles with a waiting list from day one.
For fellow librarians
Colleagues, thank you for the joint exhibitions, reading clubs and quiet evenings with catalogues. You are the heart of our library.
I wish you a decent salary, modern equipment and new books for the collection.
May our library always be a place both readers and we want to return to.
Formal wishes
Dear library workers! We sincerely congratulate you on your professional holiday. You preserve cultural heritage, support Ukrainian books and help people even in the hardest times.
We wish you inspiration, prosperity, new readers and peace.
Funny wishes
May the silence of the reading room be broken only by the rustle of pages!
May overdue borrowers return books, not just promises!
How to celebrate with the team
Thanks and certificates — recognise everyone's contribution, even with a few words at a team meeting.
Morning flowers for the office — a bouquet for the team or small arrangements on each desk set a festive mood.
A team photo — take a group picture to hang in the office or post on the website.
A wishes board — everyone leaves a few kind words for colleagues on sticky notes.
An informal get-together — lunch, a picnic or a board-game evening after work.
Toasts for the team celebration
Colleagues, here's to our profession! May our work bring not only a salary but also pride in what we do.
A toast to a team that isn't afraid of deadlines, inspections or Mondays. Cheers!
To the experience of those who've been here for years and the energy of those who've just joined. Together we're strong!
Here's to celebrating next year's professional holiday with new achievements and the same wonderful team!
What to write on a card with flowers
Happy birthday! May this bouquet remind you how many people love you.
For the best moments of the year — flowers, sincere words and hugs.
May every day be as bright as this bouquet.
Happy birthday! Wishing you health, peace and joy in the little things.
Sign the card by hand: even two lines in your handwriting mean more than a long printed message.
Library Day poems
Between the shelves, the light and calm, The scent of pages old and dear, May books bring comfort, joy and balm And readers come from far and near.
You guard the wisdom of the ages And open worlds for all to see, May joy fill all your days and pages And may your life be bright and free.
Flowers for Library Day
Gentle pastel bouquets or a potted orchid that will brighten the reading room for months suit librarians. A class or reading club can give a small bouquet together with a new book for the collection — the best gift for a library.
