Science Day in Ukraine is celebrated on the third Saturday of May — 16 May in 2026. It honours scientists, university lecturers, lab researchers, PhD students and everyone who pushes knowledge forward. Ukrainian science works in special conditions today: some institutions have been evacuated, yet research continues and helps the country, from medicine to defence technologies. Below are Science Day wishes for colleagues, academic supervisors and young researchers, plus poems and flower ideas. Other professional dates for the year are in our calendar of professional holidays in Ukraine.

Related holidays: Teachers Day, Students Day, Programmers Day.

Short Science Day wishes

• Happy Science Day! Bold hypotheses, convincing results and decent funding.
• May every experiment give an answer and every answer raise new questions. Happy holiday!
• Happy professional holiday! Inspiration, grants and publications in the best journals.
• Thank you for making the world more understandable. Happy Science Day!

For fellow scientists

• Colleagues, thank you for joint research, debates at seminars and nights over papers. May our discoveries change people's lives.
• I wish you reliable equipment, fast peer review and time for real science instead of reports.
• May the lab always have heat, light and internet — even during blackouts.

For an academic supervisor

• Dear supervisor, thank you for your patience, wise advice and faith in my ideas. This work would not exist without you.
• We wish you talented students, new discoveries and well-deserved recognition in the scientific world.
• May your knowledge keep inspiring young researchers. Happy Science Day!

Formal wishes

• Dear scientists! We sincerely congratulate you on Science Day. Your work is the foundation of the country's development, and research in wartime is especially important for Ukraine's victory and recovery.
• We wish you creative energy, international recognition, decent working conditions and peace.

For young researchers

• PhD students and young scientists, may your first papers be the start of a great journey and your theses be defended with ease!
• I wish you the courage to ask awkward questions and the persistence to find the answers.

Science Day poems

May formulas fall into place,
May every test bring results true,
May each discovery show its face
And joy keep coming back to you.

You seek the truth with steady hand,
Step after step and line by line,
May all the world you understand
Reward you with a bright design.

Flowers for Science Day

Restrained yet original bouquets suit scientists: orchids, freesias or unusual arrangements. A potted orchid is a good gift for an office or lab, as it blooms for a long time and needs little care. One big bouquet on the shared table works well for a department team.
