Kyiv is one of Europe’s greenest capitals, and in spring it becomes one big flower show. The brightest events take place at the Singing Field, while magnolias and lilacs bloom in the botanic gardens. Here are the city’s main flower spots and tips on when to visit.
The landscape park in Pechersk next to the Singing Field is the main venue for the city’s flower shows, organised by the municipal company Kyivzelenbud. In spring it hosts a tulip show: hundreds of thousands of bulbs are planted in patterns, with a new theme each year. In summer and early autumn the same site holds themed displays of annuals, roses and flower sculptures. Dates and ticket prices are announced ahead of each season.
Usually from late April to mid-May; exact dates depend on the weather and are announced each year.
Do the botanic gardens charge admission?
Yes, Kyiv’s botanic gardens charge an entrance fee; current prices are listed on their official websites.
